Cathedral of the Assumption was completed in 2018. I was inspired by a friends’ photograph of the Cathedral of the Assumption in Louisville, where I presently reside. I have been portraying cathedrals in paintings for over twenty years, often using cathedrals from all across Europe as a reference point. The cathedral in Louisville is very much of the essence of those classical structures. As always, I am driven by the light moving over the atmosphere inside, clearing the darkness as in a redemption of the spirit.
